Purpose-Built Features for Georgia Hunters

Every feature in TruHunt was designed around real Georgia hunting scenarios — from scouting quota units to navigating hunt properties without cell service.

Mapping Data

  • Five basemap styles — dual satellite imagery, LiDAR terrain shading, shaded relief, and topographic — let you see Georgia's landscape your way.
  • LiDAR-derived terrain shading reveals ridgelines, saddles, creek bottoms, and subtle elevation breaks that standard topo maps miss entirely.
  • High-resolution ESRI satellite imagery gives you a clear overhead view of food plots, stand setups, creek crossings, and approach corridors.
  • Access infrastructure overlays — parking areas, boat ramps, check stations, trailheads, and public shooting ranges — each with a tap-to-detail card.
  • Contour lines, water bodies, and forest cover render alongside any basemap so terrain context is always present.
  • Switch basemaps instantly from the Layers card without losing your active layer toggles or current map position.

Land Ownership Data

  • Public hunting areas, WMAs, state parks, conservation lands, and USFWS hunt units all on a single toggle-driven layer — no separate apps needed.
  • Tap any public land boundary to see hunt dates, legal species, weapon types, quota hunts, youth hunts, and special regulations in a clean detail card.
  • Separate toggles for State Land, Federal Land, BLM, Wilderness, and more — stack only the ownership layers that matter for your trip.
  • Private land parcel boundaries for the entire state of Georgia, so you always know exactly where private property begins and ends.
  • Tap any private parcel to view the owner name, property address, mailing address, and deeded acreage — critical for gaining access permission.
  • Hunting restriction overlays — no-hunting zones, waterfowl refuges, archery-only areas, dog training areas, and dove fields — visualized at a glance.

Layer System & Presets

  • Toggle individual map layers on and off from an organized Layers panel grouped by category.
  • Save four fully named presets — each with its own basemap style and layer combination — and switch with one tap.
  • Recently used layers surface automatically at the top of the panel so you can re-enable favorites fast.
  • Layer sections stay collapsible so the panel never feels cluttered, even with dozens of toggles available.
  • Preset names are editable, so you can label them for the hunt — "Turkey Season," "Trout Trip," "Deer Opener," etc.

Water & Wetland Layers

  • 8,000+ miles of Georgia trout streams with special regulations, delayed harvest, and heavily stocked sections mapped separately.
  • Tap any trout stream to see classification, county, basin, and regulation details in a detail card.
  • Three dedicated wetland layer toggles — Woody Wetlands, Tidal Wetlands, and Grassy Wetlands — each visually distinct by color.
  • Tap any wetland feature to see its type and acreage pulled directly from the underlying dataset.
  • Water & Streams overlay shows rivers, lakes, water bodies, shadows, and depth all at once.
  • Water access points and boat ramps each have their own toggle and tap-to-detail card.

Waypoints

  • Drop waypoints anywhere on the map with a single tap and customize them immediately.
  • Choose from 30+ purpose-built icons organized into Animals, Food Sources, Scouting, and Terrain categories.
  • Pick from 11 pin colors — the icon color automatically adapts for visibility on light and dark pins.
  • Set a proximity radius on any waypoint and see it drawn on the map as a labeled circle.
  • Organize waypoints into named folders and toggle visibility per waypoint.
  • Tap any waypoint card to get directions, share the location, view weather, and configure optimal wind direction.

Measurements & Routes

  • Measure distance with a line tool or calculate area with a polygon tool directly on the map.
  • See live measurements updating as you place points so you can check shot lanes, clearings, and stand setups in real time.
  • Save named measurements and keep them visible on the map with labeled endpoints for future reference.
  • Plan multi-point routes with turn-by-turn segment distances and a total distance readout.
  • Save named routes and display them on the map with distinct styling from measurements and tracks.
  • Edit or delete any saved measurement or route from its detail card.

Weather & Wind

  • View a full weather forecast for any waypoint — hourly conditions, wind speed, precipitation, and visibility.
  • Set up to 7 optimal wind directions per waypoint and immediately see a favorability rating for current conditions.
  • Wind favorability indicators (Good, Okay, Poor) help you decide whether a stand is huntable before you make the drive.
  • Journal entries automatically capture the weather conditions at the time and place of your entry.
  • Wind annotations persist across sessions so your stand setups carry over hunt to hunt.

Hunt Journal

  • Drop a journal entry anywhere on the map to record what happened at that exact location.
  • Each entry auto-captures the weather summary — temperature, wind, conditions — at time of logging.
  • Add free-form notes to document sightings, sign, stand activity, or anything worth remembering.
  • Browse past entries by location directly on the map so you build a true history of each property.
  • Journal entries are private and stored securely — never visible to other users.

Party Tracker

  • Create or join a hunting group and see all member locations live on the map.
  • Draw a hunt boundary polygon on the map to define your group's area for the day.
  • The boundary renders on every group member's map so everyone knows the perimeter.
  • See shared assets — stands, gear drops, meet points — pinned by any group member.
  • Live member positions update in real time so you always know where your party is.

Offline Capability

  • Download any Georgia region for fully offline use before you leave home.
  • All boundary data, trout streams, waypoints, and saved layers are cached locally.
  • Real-time GPS tracking works without any cell signal — no connectivity required in the field.
  • Waypoints, measurements, routes, and journal entries all save locally first and sync when back online.
  • Offline regions are managed and deletable so storage stays under your control.

Privacy & Security

  • Your waypoints, tracks, and journal entries are private — never shared or sold.
  • No third-party location data sharing of any kind.
  • Offline-first architecture means most data never leaves your device unless you choose to back it up.
  • Full data export and deletion rights so you stay in control of your information.
  • Secure authentication with optional multi-device sync for Pro users.
